Cambodia’s Agricultural Exports Hit 15 Million Tonnes in First Ten Months of 2026
Officials say the next phase of growth will depend on food safety compliance, post-harvest processing, storage capacity and stronger trade links.

The figures were announced by Ker Monthivuth, Director of the Department of Plant Protection, Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) under the ministry's General Directorate of Agriculture, during the recent Cambodia Agriculture Forum and Exhibition (CAFE) in Phnom Penh. The substantial volume reflects sustained external demand across key regional and global trade partners for Cambodian staple crops, including milled rice, cashew nuts, yellow bananas, fresh mangoes, and rubber.
In addition to broad agricultural shipments, the kingdom's official milled rice exports recently surpassed the significant landmark of 1 million tonnes, propelled by a notable surge in demand and expanding trade pathways into regional markets such as the Philippines.
Ministry officials highlighted that the government's ongoing strategic focus is shifting progressively from raw volume production toward enhanced post-harvest processing, food safety compliance, and value-added agricultural exports. Upgraded phytosanitary standards and pest-risk management protocols are being actively prioritized to meet strict import requirements in major international markets.
Agricultural experts and economic analysts note that strengthening local processing infrastructure and expanding storage capacity will be crucial to sustaining this upward momentum.
"Agriculture remains a foundational pillar of Cambodia's economy, supporting rural livelihoods and driving foreign exchange earnings," said an independent agricultural economist based in Phnom Penh who spoke on background. "Ensuring consistent product quality, improving cold-chain logistics, and optimizing bilateral trade agreements will determine the long-term competitiveness of Cambodian producers abroad."
With government agencies, development partners, and private-sector stakeholders collaborating closely to modernize farming technologies and expand regional overland transit routes, authorities anticipate that agricultural export revenues will remain strong through the final quarter of the year.
